Vaginal rejuvenation, which is sometimes called “genital plastic surgery,” is a procedure that improves the appearance of a woman’s genitalia. Depending on a patient’s desired effect, an OB/GYN might recommend several different procedures that. Some include:
Additionally, a vaginal rejuvenation might be done to restore the hymen, which is typically broken when a woman loses her virginity. This type of procedure is sometimes called a “revirgination.”
Usually middle-aged and older women are the best candidates for a vaginal rejuvenation. The vagina can loosen during childbirth or as a natural part of aging. The treatment can help address the slackening of the vagina from either of these causes.
Although vaginal rejuvenations are a type of cosmetic surgery, they usually aren’t performed by plastic surgeons. Instead, they’re typically done by OB/GYNs, who specifically study women’s reproductive systems and are best qualified to perform cosmetic procedures on them.
Vaginal rejuvenations are widely considered safe when they’re done by a surgically trained and board-certified OB/GYN. OB/GYNs have been offering vaginal rejuvenations for years, and many women have benefited from the procedures.
Because several different procedures fall under the umbrella of vaginal rejuvenation, the amount of time that a vaginal rejuvenation can take varies. In general, however, procedures are completed in part of a day. In addition to the procedure itself, OB/GYNs usually want to have at least one pre-procedure consultation and at least one follow-up afterward.
